The University of the Aegean proudly participates in ISLANDS, an international, research-driven Master’s programme jointly offered with the University of Groningen, the University of Iceland and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This 2-year English-taught programme explores the unique characteristics of islands and advances the knowledge, tools, and skills needed to address today’s sustainability challenges.
About the Programme
ISLANDS brings together spatial, social, and environmental sciences to help students understand islands as distinctive socio-ecological systems. Through interdisciplinary research and hands-on training, the programme bridges theory and practice—empowering future experts to analyse, design, and implement sustainable solutions tailored to island contexts.

-
Island Particularities: Study the socio-economic, geopolitical, cultural, and environmental dynamics that shape island communities and their development.
-
Sustainability & Applied Research: Develop methodological tools, critical thinking, and technological skills to support sustainable policy-making and real-world applications.
