(3) Syllabus

The field of human geography. Relations and inter-connections with physical geography. The basic sub-fields of human geography. The current trends and position of human geography within the broader area of social sciences. Geographic terminology and concepts: space, position, place, landscape, scale, region. Political, social and population geography. Cultural, urban, rural, regional and historical geography. Economic geography: the spational dimensions of productiove avtivities, location theories especially of the secondary and industrial sector. Human geography theory. Theories of regional development: general equilibrium theories and dis-equilibrium, under-development theories. Urbanisation and organization/regulation of urban space.
