This course aims to create a global picture of the dynamics of the city and urban planning over time.

(3) Syllabus

The course deals with the process of the evolution of the urban phenomenon and of urban planning thought . Emphasis is placed on the formation of the early settlements of Mesopotamia, the phenomenon of the Greece “polis”, the structure of the Medieval city in the European and the Arabic world, the model of the city of the Renaissance and, lastly, to the formation of the early industrial town.
