(3) Syllabus

Introduction to the basic methods and techniques of regional analysis that are necessary tools in geographical applications for the study (description, analysis, interpretation) of regional phenomena and in regional planning. The main groups of methods covered include:

  • Methods of regional economic analysis (descriptive texchniques, measures of concentration, measures of dispersion, measures of specialization, input-output analysis, shift-share analysis)
  • Methods of demographic analysis (selected descriptive and population projection methods)
  • Evaluation methods (general, cost-benefit analysis, PPS, multicriteria analysis)
