The main goal of the course is students to develop scientific knowledge in the theories and applications of didactics in secondary school
More specifically after the course the student is expected to be able to:
- recognize the basic principles and theories related to teaching and learning
- classify the factors that influence teaching and learning and relate them to the educational policy and the context in which it takes place
- distinguish the differences between teaching methods and strategies
- define the teaching phases according to the method
- apply the appropriate teaching method according to the course
- understand the role of curriculum resources in effective teaching interventions
- design and develop a teaching scenario by implementing specific strategies, selecting appropriate activities, educational material and supervisory tools
- present an integrated course plan and relate categories of objectives with learning outcomes
- identify types of evaluation and plan an evaluation
- get the opportunity to observe, describe, reflect on and analyse students teaching as well as their own teaching
- εvaluate and appreciate teachers’ role in students’ effective learning
- recognize the value of collaborative teaching and integrate it into the practice of teaching
