The Postgraduate Program is open to holders of a first-cycle degree from Geography Departments, as well as Departments/Schools of Natural, Technological, and Socioeconomic Sciences of Greek Universities (Universities and Technological Educational Institutes), or equivalent institutions abroad.

Additionally, graduates of the Higher Military Education Institutes, the Officers' School of the Hellenic Police, the Fire Officers Academy, and the School of Coast Guard Cadets – Hellenic Coast Guard are eligible.

Furthermore, students from the above institutions are accepted, provided they have completed their obligations and submitted relevant certification before their enrollment in the Postgraduate Program.

The call is published annually at the end of the spring semester. You can find it on the websites of the Postgraduate Program, the Department of Geography, and the University of the Aegean, as well as on the Study in Greece online portal and social media platforms (Facebook of the Department of Geography, Facebook of the Postgraduate Program). Additionally, it is sent to relevant departments and Career Services Offices of Greek Universities.

The call includes admission requirements, categories of graduates eligible to apply, the number of available positions, the admission process, selection criteria, application deadlines, and the required documentation.

NEW CALL FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2023-2024

The application and digital copies of the necessary documents are submitted through the University of the Aegean's electronic system, "Nautilus" (https://nautilus.aegean.gr).

Printed copies of the required documents are submitted during registration.

The necessary documents include:

1. Application for candidacy
2. Detailed Curriculum Vitae
3. Copy of the degree/diploma or Certificate of Completion of Studies
4. Transcript of Records with the grade of the degree/diploma
5. Publications in peer-reviewed journals, if available
6. Evidence of professional or research activity, if available
7. Photocopy of both sides of the ID card (or passport)
8. Two recommendation letters
9. English language proficiency certificate, at level B2 or above (details regarding proof of English language proficiency and the opportunity for a written test in English within the framework of the Postgraduate Program, in cases of lacking a recognized certificate, are specified in the call)
10. Greek language proficiency certificate for international candidates
11. Additionally, candidates may submit any other material they believe would contribute to the Evaluation and Selection Committee forming a more comprehensive view of their scientific and research profile.

Foreign first-cycle degrees must be recognized according to the applicable legislation.

The selection of admitted candidates is based on the following criteria:

• Undergraduate degree/diploma grade (30%).
• Grade point average of undergraduate courses relevant to the subject of the Postgraduate Program (30%).
• Performance in the undergraduate thesis, research or professional activity related to the subject of the Postgraduate Program, publications (10%).
• Personal interview (30%).

The personal interview is conducted by the Evaluation and Selection Committee and may be carried out through remote methods such as teleconferencing.

The final list of successful candidates is compiled by the Evaluation and Selection Committee, approved, and ratified by the Assembly of the Department of Geography. It is then posted on the Department's website. The selected candidates must enroll in the Postgraduate Program within the announced deadline, submitting the required documentation mentioned in the announcement. In case of non-enrollment by one or more students, any reserve candidates will be invited to enroll based on their ranking on the approved list.

The master's students of the MSc program could participate in the Erasmus+ program implemented by the University of the Aegean to undertake an Internship (Erasmus Placement) abroad. Participation in the program, provided it takes place within the maximum duration of enrollment in the MSc program and before completing their postgraduate studies, is recorded in the Diploma Supplement awarded to them along with the MSc degree.

The Director of the MSc program approves the student submission.

Δικαίωμα δωρεάν φοίτησης (απαλλαγή διδάκτρων)

Εγγεγραμμένοι φοιτητές/φοιτήτριες του Π.Μ.Σ. δύνανται να φοιτούν δωρεάν εφόσον πληρούν τα οικονομικά ή κοινωνικά κριτήρια του άρθρου 86 του Ν. 4957/2022. Προϋπόθεση για τη χορήγηση του δικαιώματος δωρεάν φοίτησης λόγω οικονομικών ή κοινωνικών κριτηρίων είναι η πλήρωση προϋποθέσεων αριστείας κατά τον πρώτο κύκλο σπουδών, που αντιστοιχεί κατ’ ελάχιστον στην κατοχή βαθμού ίσου ή ανώτερου του επτάμιση με άριστα στα δέκα (7,5/10), εφόσον η αξιολόγηση στον βασικό τίτλο σπουδών που προσκομίζεται για την εισαγωγή στο Π.Μ.Σ. έχει πραγματοποιηθεί σύμφωνα με τη δεκάβαθμη κλίμακα αξιολόγησης Ανώτατου Εκπαιδευτικού Ιδρύματος (Α.Ε.Ι.) της ημεδαπής, άλλως το κριτήριο αυτό εφαρμόζεται αναλογικά σύμφωνα με την εκάστοτε κλίμακα αξιολόγησης, εφόσον ο προσκομιζόμενος τίτλος σπουδών έχει χορηγηθεί από Ίδρυμα της αλλοδαπής. Ο συνολικός αριθμός των φοιτητών που φοιτούν δωρεάν δεν δύναται να υπερβαίνει τον αριθμό που αντιστοιχεί στο τριάντα τοις εκατό (30%) του συνόλου των εγγεγραμμένων φοιτητών ανά ακαδημαϊκό έτος. Αν, κατά τον αριθμητικό υπολογισμό του αριθμού των δικαιούχων απαλλαγής από τα τέλη φοίτησης προκύπτει δεκαδικός αριθμός, γίνεται στρογγυλοποίηση στην πλησιέστερη ακέραιη μονάδα. Αν ο αριθμός των δικαιούχων απαλλαγής υπερβαίνει το ποσοστό της παρούσας, οι δικαιούχοι επιλέγονται με σειρά φθίνουσας κατάταξης έως τη συμπλήρωση του αριθμού.

Η υποβολή των αιτήσεων για τη δωρεάν φοίτηση ανά Π.Μ.Σ. σύμφωνα με το παρόν πραγματοποιείται μετά την ολοκλήρωση της διαδικασίας εισδοχής των φοιτητών στο Π.Μ.Σ.

• Η χρήση του δικαιώματος απαλλαγής από την υποχρέωση καταβολής τελών φοίτησης παρέχεται αποκλειστικά για τη φοίτηση σε ένα (1) Π.Μ.Σ. που οργανώνεται από ανώτατο εκπαιδευτικό ίδρυμα της ημεδαπής.
• Δεν δικαιούνται απαλλαγής όσοι λαμβάνουν υποτροφία από άλλη πηγή.
• Οι πολίτες τρίτων χωρών δεν έχουν δικαίωμα υποβολής αίτησης για την απαλλαγή από την υποχρέωση καταβολής τελών φοίτησης σε Π.Μ.Σ.

Υποτροφίες Π.Μ.Σ.

Το Π.Μ.Σ. δύναται να χορηγεί υποτροφίες άριστης επίδοσης. Οι υποτροφίες απονέμονται στους μεταπτυχιακούς/ές φοιτητές/τριες που έχουν τον υψηλότερο μέσο όρο βαθμολογίας στο σύνολο των μαθημάτων του Α’ και Β’ εξαμήνου. Σε περίπτωση ισοβαθμίας, η υποτροφία μοιράζεται ισόποσα στους υποψηφίους. Απαραίτητες προϋποθέσεις για τη λήψη υποτροφίας άριστης επίδοσης των μεταπτυχιακών φοιτητών/τριών είναι συσωρευτικά οι εξής:

1. Να έχουν εξεταστεί επιτυχώς σε όλα τα μαθήματα των δύο διδακτικών εξαμήνων, όπως ορίζονται από το Πρόγραμμα Σπουδών.
2. Να έχουν μέσο όρο βαθμολογίας σε όλα τα μαθήματα τουλάχιστον επτά και πέντε δέκατα (7,5).
3. Να μην έχουν απαλλαγή από τα τέλη φοίτησης.

Ο αριθμός και το ύψος των ανωτέρω υποτροφιών άριστης επίδοσης δύνανται να αναπροσαρμόζονται κάθε έτος μετά από εισήγηση της Σ.Ε. του Π.Μ.Σ. και απόφασης της Συνέλευσης του Τμήματος.

Επιπλέον, το Π.Μ.Σ. δύναται να χορηγεί υποτροφίες επικουρικού διδακτικού έργου ή ανταποδοτικές. Το είδος και το ύψος της υποτροφίας, τα κριτήρια και οι προϋποθέσεις απονομής τους ορίζονται από τη Συνέλευση, μετά από σχετική εισήγηση της Σ.Ε. και κοινοποιούνται εγκαίρως στους/στις μεταπτυχιακούς/ές φοιτητές/τριες του προγράμματος.

Βραβεία Αριστείας και Υποτροφίες Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου

Το Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου έχει θεσπίσει Βραβεία Αριστείας για μεταπτυχιακούς φοιτητές και μεταπτυχιακές φοιτήτριες, τα οποία προκηρύσσει περιοδικά και καλύπτουν το σύνολο των επιστημονικών πεδίων που θεραπεύει το Ίδρυμα. Σκοπός είναι η ενθάρρυνση ερευνητικών προσπάθειών και σε μεταπτυχιακό επίπεδο οι οποίες οδηγούν είτε σε ανακοινώσεις σε αναγνωρισμένα διεθνή συνέδρια, είτε σε δημοσιεύσεις σε έγκριτα επιστημονικά περιοδικά και οι οποίες συμβάλλουν καταλυτικά στην ανάδειξη του ερευνητικού χαρακτήρα του Ιδρύματος.
