The teaching of the courses takes place in person and through distance learning methods during the semesters. Distance learning can take place to a percentage of up to eighty-five percent (85%) of the total teaching program, with this percentage varying for each course.
Courses are delivered in the form of lectures, seminars, and/or laboratories, and may include preparatory research, teaching, and other educational activities. Distinguished professors, researchers, and scientists from Greece or abroad may be invited to teach on a case-by-case basis. Attendance and participation in all types of educational activities are mandatory. A postgraduate student is considered to have attended a course (and thus has the right to participate in exams) only if they have attended at least 75% of the course's teaching hours.
In-person teaching is organized at the Department of Geography in Mytilene and includes mandatory physical presence, which is organized in two (2) intensive cycles per semester (A and B). During the intensive cycles, classes may also be held on Saturdays and Sundays.
Distance participation and attendance are achieved using modern methods and tools (monitoring via an electronic platform for modern teaching, such as Moodle, e-class, etc.). For this purpose, postgraduate students are required to have suitable electronic equipment (a computer with a high-speed internet connection, meeting the technical specifications for the operation of teleconferencing software and necessary programs for the educational needs of the courses, a camera, microphone, speakers, or headphones). During modern distance learning, instructors and students participate with their cameras activated.

The duration of enrollment leading to the acquisition of a Master's Degree (M.Sc.) is set at three (3) academic semesters, including the time for the preparation of the master's thesis. The maximum allowable completion time for the program is six (6) academic semesters.
Upon request of the postgraduate student, a justified suspension of enrollment may be requested, which cannot exceed two (2) consecutive academic semesters.

Postgraduate students are required to pay tuition fees. The amount of the prescribed tuition fees for the entire program is set at one thousand eight hundred euros (€1,800.00). The payment can be made in two (2) installments per semester, each amounting to three hundred euros (€300.00).
Enrolled students in the M.Sc. program may be eligible for free tuition if they meet the financial or social criteria specified by the legislation.

The M.Sc. program offers scholarships for outstanding academic performance. Scholarships are awarded to postgraduate students with the highest average grade in the courses of the A' and B' semesters.

For the establishment, organization, and operation of the Master's Program, the competent bodies/committees are:

  • The Senate of the University
  • The Postgraduate Studies Committee of the University
  • The Assembly of the Department of Geography
  • The Coordinating Committee of the Master's Program
  • Τhe Director of the Master's Program
  • The Evaluation and Selection Committee of Postgraduate Students
