The changing economic landscape in Greece and abroad has transformed the job market to such an extent that the balances between qualifications, academic titles, and skills are now quite volatile. This is particularly pronounced in professions related to the technological sectors, where technologies change rapidly, necessitating continuous updating of workers' skills. The job market is primarily divided into the private and public sectors. In the field of Geoinformatics, the private sector includes companies involved in the management, trade, and recording of geographic data, as well as their processing. It also encompasses mapping services and data recording using Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), usually for topographic surveys and cadastral actions (purchase, rental, sale, with corresponding legal procedures). In the public sector, entities such as Municipalities, Regions, Decentralized Administrations, and Ministries deal with Geoinformatics-related tasks. Relevant bodies also include local Forest Services, as well as Security Forces and the Armed Forces, offering positions related to Geoinformatics subjects.
Graduates
Graduates of the Master's program fall into two categories: those who were employed before their enrollment and those who were not. Employed individuals typically continue working in the same organization after completing the program. In many cases, the postgraduate diploma can contribute to their advancement within the organization or facilitate their transfer to another entity, possibly more relevant to Geoinformatics. On the other hand, graduates who were not employed before their enrollment, use the postgraduate diploma to find employment in Greece or abroad. They usually focus on private companies providing mapping services, surveying offices for topographic mapping services, as well as companies developing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications, such as precision agriculture or web applications. They are also evaluated during the hiring process for positions in the public sector, in accordance with the legal framework in force each time.
