Laboratory supervisor: Korres George, Professor - Anagnostou Spyros, Assistant Professor
The objective of the laboratory is the undertaking of EU and national research in the fields of economic geography, local/ regional development, innovation policies and territorial planning, as well as the diffusion of research findings in the educational activity. More specific goals include: The support of interdisciplinary post-graduate and post-doctorate research, the organization of international and national research seminars, conferences and other scientific events, the encouragement of scientific publications, the creation of socio-economic/ spatial databases and the utilization of new technologies in research and teaching. The lab has recently carried out a number of international research projects: (a) a Greek/ Albanian joint project on the prospects of environmental and human resources in sustainable development across the Greece-Albania border zone; (b) a EU project on ex-convicts’ reintegration into labour market and social life; (c) a EU project on urban sprawl, European patterns, environmental degradation and sustainable development (URBS-pandens). An international collective publication (Blackwell Publishers, Oxford) is currently in progress based on the research findings of the latter project.

Laboratory supervisor: Kalabokidis, Kostas, Professor
